Who is Hans Hedemann?

Hans Hedemann is a well-known surfer from Honolulu, Hawaii, who grew up surfing Oahu's North and South Shores. He competed on the surfing world tour straight out of high school, rose to 3rd in the world, and was featured in the 1987 film 'North Shore.' After 18 years as a professional surfer he retired and founded his surf school.

Will I be able to go surfing by myself after one lesson?

Usually one lesson isn't enough to surf without an instructor. After roughly 5-10 surf lessons you'll start to develop the skillset to surf on your own, and it can take a year or two to fully develop all the skills needed to handle a surfboard confidently.

Do I need to know how to swim for the surf lesson?

Swimming is preferred but not a necessity. Just let us know that you cannot swim and we will provide you with a life vest and make sure you surf where it is shallow.

How do I prepare for my surf lesson?

Be ready for sun exposure. We recommend high-quality sunscreen, a hat, and a waterproof top. A surf top comes with the lesson, and sunscreen is available for purchase. Eat a healthy meal and drink plenty of water before and after your lesson.
